Little Debbie got her name because she’s so small, and so sweet. She came to us in very bad shape. Her dental work had not been address in years, and she had a severe lice infestation. Due to these two problems, she was extremely thin and weak when we brought her home. We quickly took her to the vet to address the dental issues and treated her for the lice. It took a while for her to regrow a healthy hair coat, and even longer to get her back to a healthy weight. After about 4 months of careful daily management, we have her back to her healthy self. When she arrived, she was very lethargic, but now has quite the personality and some spunk!
Little Deb is very attached to Sky and Lacey. They have taken it upon themselves to keep her protected from the other horses. They treat her like a foal even though she’s full grown.
Little Deb is currently going to events in the petting zoo. We don’t use her for rides because she is so small. When she goes to events, she wears a grazing muzzle because she doesn’t know how to gently accept treats. This doesn’t hurt her, and it protects the children from accidentally putting fingers in her mouth. It does allow her to pick up grass and eat, it just prevents people from messing with her mouth.
Little Deb is only 29″ tall! She is smaller than some goats that we have met. She is full grown. Miniature horses are NOT baby horses. They are Mini like a small dog breed. They are a legitimate breed of horse and can be very small like Little Deb.
Little Deb is a great choice for a petting zoo. She has beautiful hair and is happy to let the kids brush and braid it!
